What is a Mei Tai?
A mei tai (pronounced May-tie) is a type of traditional Asian baby carrier. The mei tai is Chinese in origin and was a square or nearly square piece of cloth with parallel unpadded straps emerging from the sides of each corner. It was traditionally secured by bringing all the straps together in a twist with the ends tucked. Woman wore their babies to provide a way to care for their children while accomplishing necessary daily tasks.
Sweetgrass Baby Mei Tai carriers are reversible with a beautiful design on either side, giving you two stunning carriers in one! Each carrier is one of a kind, and custom requests are welcome, please contact us. Mei Tai's are suitable for front, hip, or back carries with children ranging from birth to as heavy as a parent can support. (Usually between 34 and 45 lbs for comfort). Dimensions (approximate): W: 13.5 inches, H: 19.5 inches. Straps are ample at 75+ inches. They have been tested on people 120 lbs - 250 lbs. The Sweetgrass Baby design has padded straps and a padded top piece for comfort.
All carriers come packaged and ready for use. Wearing and care instructions are included. (Hand-crafted by a WAHM in Iowa.)

Everyday Fun
This is a denim carrier with a pink-based batik featuring blue and green
accent colors on side A.
It reverses to a blue, green, aqua and yellow dot seersucker for twice the

This is a denim carrier. Side A is a large flower print of green, purple, and blue flowers on a white background. This carrier reverses to a patriotic stars print.

Waterfall/Mod Flower
This is a reversible carrier with black twill straps.
Side A is a pattern of waves in a waterfall style comprised of purples, blues, green and yellow with a tiny floral stamp overlay.
Side B features a modern bold floral design with retro flair. The design has a great scape of grey, aqua, and white on a black background.

Classy Sassy
This is a beautiful mei tai with an Asian style tone-on-tone floral print on side A in a dark magenta. It is a foiled cotton. It is soft and supple, resembling silk. However, unlike silk it will NOT snag or pull and can be machine washed and dried! Pictures don't do this justice! It's beautiful.
Side B is a classy black and white print. You'll always match something with these time-tested styles!

Brushed Beauty
This carrier has black twill straps and trim. Side A has a brush-stroked fabric with a squiggle line or thread-like design running over it. Side B is a red-toned dogwood print. The picture doesn't do it justice - the coloring is all red tones and no pinks.

Mother nature
This mei tai also has black twill straps and trim. Side A has a wonderful bamboo print and side B has rocks and pebbles with butterflies tucked within. It's hard to beat the perfection created by Mother nature!

If you love Orange you will rave over this unique print with blue dots and yellow accents! Flip it over and there is more to love! Side B is a stylized vine of aqua blue embellished with chocolate brown.
