Our 3-year-old daughter chose this product, because she loved the designs! I went along because it's a great idea. Many of you feed your children "real" table food instead of buying pre-packaged "toddler" food. How nice to have a sizing guide right on the plate while you're preparing their food, ensuring they can feed themselves safely! Plus the plates are fun, and free of lead and pthalates, without being breakable. (Because, you know, we're realistic around here - kids throw stuff.)

Use them as a good reminder to yourself, or feel better leaving kids with grandparents or other caregivers that may be a little rusty about feeding kids safely.

The Safe Sizer_TM Plate helps reduce the risk of choking by measuring the maximum recommended bite size for children under 4 years old that are eating solid foods.

How the Safe Sizer_TM works:

The Safe Sizer_TM is a 1/2 inch diameter raised ring, molded into an 8 inch diameter plate, that provides a visual reminder and measurement gauge for parents and caregivers. The US Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) recognizes the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommendation that children younger than 4 years old not be fed any round, firm food unless it is cut into small pieces no larger than 1/2 inch in any direction.

Did you know:

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), about 75 children under age 14 die every year from choking on food, and around 7500 are treated in emergency rooms each year for choking.
Children under 2 years old have the highest rate of food-related choking deaths among children.
Children up to 4 years old are the most vulnerable to choking on food because they don't have a full set of teeth.

These 100% melamine plates meet all Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) testing for Lead and Phthalates.
