What kind of corn is used to make these utensils?
The corn used is the most common type grown in the US, primarily used to feed animals and make artificial sweeteners.

Why can't I put it in the dishwasher?
Dandelion ReUsable tableware is continually being tested for top-rack dishwasher use, and can run through some dishwashers with no problem. However, because the temperature can vary considerably between dishwashers, Dandelion is concerned about possible distortion under high heat. Note that although conventional plastics can release toxins under high heat, there are no toxins in the PLA used by Dandelion.
Minimal packaging is used on all Dandelion Earth-Friendly Goods, to reduce waste. Sleeves or cards are made of 100% recycled paperboard and printed with vegetable inks. Less packaging also means reduced fuel requirements for shipping.
