You've chosen what type of cloth diaper you want to use, decided how many diapers you want to purchase, and added them to your shopping cart. Whew!  That was a big decision!  Oh, no, you're not done. Now it's time to accessorize...
Similar to clothing accessories, cloth diapers will usually function without accessories, but the picture isn't complete. You don't want to put your eco-friendly, reusable cloth diapers in a plastic garbage bag until wash day, do you? Of course not. :-) You want an eco-friendly, reusable diaper pail liner.
When I first started using cloth diapers, I figured I would just keep using disposable wipes to make life easier.  It only took me about three diaper changes to figure out it certainly wasn't easier!  After changing, I would put the soiled cloth diaper in the pail, but then would have to find a separate trash container to put the disposable wipe in.  Much easier to use cloth wipes, throw everything in the same diaper pail, and wash all together.  Then I also discovered that cloth wipes WORK MUCH BETTER.  Now when I use a disposable wipe, it seems sort of like trying to wash your dishes with saran wrap.  There's not much there, it doesn't grab any of the nasty stuff...well, you get the picture.
You can use cloth wipes with just plain water, but they will work a little better (and smell really nice) if you use some sort of wipe solution.  You can make your own wipe solution, or you can try our many different options for specially formulated cloth wipe solution.
Wait!  I'm not nearly done!  We're just getting to the fun part.  In addition to an eco-friendly reusable cloth diaper pail liner, you're also going to want a few eco-friendly, reusable wet bags for your diaper bag.  Oh, and they're CUTE, too.  Just an added bonus.  Because how many chances do you get to select "fun and funky" stuff now that you're a parent?
Plus lots more stuff to make using cloth diapers easier and more efficient: using prefolds and want to keep that newborn breastfed poop in the diaper?  Try fastening with a Snappi.  Starting solid foods and all of a sudden you don't want that poop anywhere NEAR your washing machine anymore?  Minishower diaper sprayer to the rescue!  I don't know how anyone uses cloth diapers without one.  Or don't want to deal with the poop at all?  Try flushable liners!  Heavy wetter, or a long night sleeper?  You might need some extra inserts - try the hemp, great absorbency, not much bulk.  Go forth and have fun!
